Advantages
Scalp Vein Set
Scalp vein sets are one-time use medical equipment that have been disinfected. They are usually furnished with a butterfly needle that is attached to flexible tubing. At the proximal side, this tubing has a Luer Lock or Luer slip connector, which allows for a solid and stable attachment with the infusion tube.
It is commonly used in the treatment of patients with muscle tightening and in young children for blood collection and rapid tiny infusion solutions. It's also known as winged infusion or butterfly set, and it's typically utilised for venipuncture.
- Compared to a straight, basic needle, a scalp vein set can reach more body surface and tolerate more patient movement.
- It allows for precision placement and access to very superficial veins or veins that are difficult to reach, such as those in the arm, leg, wrist, and scalp.
- The wing needle is less traumatic and more appropriate for thin veins, such as those seen in newborns and the seniors.
- When compared to using an I.V. catheter to take blood, employing a scalp vein set lowered the rate of blood breaking down by half.
- After a blood draw, the chances of a patient experiencing copious bleeding, vein failure, or nerve injury are reduced. It has also been discovered to be more beneficial for people with bleeding problems like haemophilia.
